The Cambrites practiced and practiced for weeks to put on a show like never before, showcasing their unique talents and amazing choreographic display on January 26, 2024. Republic Day celebrations in schools are not just some events but a transformative experience that moulds young minds into responsible citizens. The rituals, activities, celebrations, and engagement create a holistic understanding of patriotism whose impact stays on the students long after school is over, influencing their values and choices and enabling them to take their rightful place in society and the global community. As the celebration ends, it leaves behind a sense of belonging and duty, reminding them all that they are the custodians of India’s legacy and that their actions matter.
The thought above brings to mind the story of the late Janab Sayed Rashid Ahmed, a hardworking person and devoted family man who lived his life in the simplest of manners but shouldered and contributed to one of the biggest movements in our nation’s history—the Freedom Struggle.
Janab Sahab made his choice all those years ago, and in recognition of his selfless patriotic service to our nation, he was felicitated with several distinguished awards posthumously. He had a vision to establish an institution that imparts quality education, is unbiased and inclusive, and promotes holistic development in every child. Thus producing good citizens and leaders who will lead by example. The Indian Cambridge School in Dalanwala is a living embodiment of his vision.

On January 26, 2024, a spirited tribute unfolded at The Indian Cambridge School, a girls boarding school in Dehradun, paying homage not only to the occasion itself but also to the architects of our constitution and the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. The festivities commenced with the ceremonial unfurling of the national flag, accompanied by the resonant notes of the national anthem. Students showcased their profound understanding of the Indian Constitution through a captivating gymnastic performance that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
Meanwhile, the middle school students eloquently portrayed Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals in a play, a poignant reminder of the values held dear by the nation’s founding figures. The Preparatory Classes of The Indian Cambridge School also took to the stage with the “Jai Ho Drill,” a symphony of patriotism, illustrating the unity and pride that binds the nation together.
The entire school grounds resonated with a harmonious unity as students wholeheartedly sang, “Hind desh ke Niwasi Sabhi Jan Ek Hain.”
Our secondary school students presented a beautifully synchronised dance that honoured the principle of “Unity in Diversity,” reflecting the diverse cultural tapestry of India. Last, but not least, adding to the celebration, our foundation classes showcased Republic Day drills, contributing to the overall sense of festivity.
The celebrations culminated with an inspiring speech from the honourable Chief Guest, Dr. S. Farooq Sir, who emphasised the significance of the Indian Constitution and the sacrifices made by the Freedom Fighters.
He also recalled an incident that occurred during his school days, recounting a touching moment that underscored the importance of treating everyone with respect and fostering an environment of inclusion. His sincere words echoed the school’s commitment to nurturing not just academic growth but also the emotional well-being of every child, highlighting the importance of parents educating and empowering our girls and urging everyone to contribute to this noble and rightful cause.
As a sweet finale to the Republic Day celebrations, sweets were distributed to all, symbolising the joy and unity that embodies every Cambrite and The Indian Cambridge School as a whole. The celebrations will stand tall as a heartfelt homage to our Constitution, the members of the constituent assembly, and the enduring legacy of our freedom fighters.
